2,514 myopia prevention and control classrooms in primary and secondary schools in Zhangzhou, Fujian Province have carried out classroom lighting renovation

Recently, some attentive students discovered that the original "thin and long" fluorescent lamps in the classroom were replaced by "white and fat" smart eye protection lamps. "The lights are softer and the classroom is brighter." This is the intuitive feeling of many students.

It is understood that in order to strengthen the prevention and control of myopia in children and adolescents in Zhangzhou City and implement classroom lighting and lighting requirements, as a practical project for the private sector in 2023 by the Fujian Provincial Party Committee, Provincial Party Committee, Municipal Party Committee and Municipal Government, this year’s primary and secondary school myopia prevention and control classroom lighting renovation project tasks 2,300 classrooms, and 2,514 will actually be renovated.

Currently, 2,514 classrooms have been constructed and 2,343 classrooms have been renovated. According to the plan, we will strive to achieve 100% compliance with national standards for classroom lighting in primary and secondary schools in the city by 2025, and fully complete the classroom lighting renovation task.

+This year, 19 classrooms at Nankeng Central Primary School in Xiangcheng District, Zhangzhou City have installed eye protection lights. The renovated classroom is equipped with 12 smart eye-protection lamps in a "9+3" mode, that is, 3 blackboard lamps are allocated in the podium area and 9 eye-protection lamps are allocated in the public area. The light in the classroom is even and soft. When children lower their heads to read or write, there will be no shadows on the desks. The eye protection lamp hanging in front of the blackboard allows students to clearly see the teacher's writing on the blackboard even if they are sitting in the last row of the classroom.

+ So what is the difference between smart eye protection lamps and ordinary LED lamps? When reporters walked into a classroom with two different lamp types, the most direct feeling was the difference in eye comfort. The light of the smart eye protection lamp is warm and soft, while the brightness of ordinary LED lights is too high and a bit dazzling.

How can classroom lighting renovation fully meet the standards? The reporter learned that according to the "2023 Technical Guidelines for Myopia Prevention and Control Classroom Lighting Renovation Engineering in Primary and Secondary Schools in Fujian Province", classroom lighting equipment needs to follow "GB40070-2021 Hygiene Requirements for Myopia Prevention and Control of Children and Adolescents' School Supplies", and must fully consider the growth and development characteristics of children and adolescents, and design based on actual conditions such as myopia prevention and control needs, building structure conditions, and the location of existing equipment in classrooms. At the same time, the average illumination and illumination uniformity maintained in the classroom, the average illumination and illumination uniformity maintained at the blackboard, glare, and lighting power density should meet the corresponding classroom lighting requirements.

"By creating a healthy light environment, we can prevent students' myopia, reduce stress and burden on students' eyes, and bring visual comfort to teachers and students." According to Xu Yumei, principal of Nankeng Central Primary School, the classroom lighting renovation not only protects students' vision, but also enables intelligent operation. "After the renovation, teachers can also switch scene modes such as writing on the blackboard, projection, exams, and after school according to teaching needs, and control lighting with one click."

Even more intelligently, school administrators can log in to the management platform through mobile phones or computers to complete lamp inspections, control the status of equipment in real time, and remotely control the lights on and off through the WeChat applet on their mobile phones to create a safe and energy-saving digital learning environment for students.

Many parents and students are full of praise for the replacement of smart eye protection lamps in the classroom. "In the past, ordinary fluorescent lamps were used in classrooms, and the light was dazzling. After studying for a long time, my eyes would easily get sore. Now that I have switched to smart eye protection lamps, I obviously feel that I am not easily fatigued when studying, and I am more focused in class." said a student at Nankeng Central Primary School.

Han Changan, a member of the Party Leadership Group of the Xiangcheng District Education Bureau, said that this year, Xiangcheng District has carried out lighting renovations for primary and secondary school classrooms in 23 schools and 240 classes, and has now passed the acceptance inspection by relevant agencies to ensure that the quality of classroom lighting construction meets standards, allowing children to learn in a healthy and comfortable light environment as soon as possible.
